The 8th annual State Science Olympiad was held at Leeward College. Next year it will be held at UH Manoa due to the increase in the number of schools participating. Baldwin placed 6th overall. We competed in 16 events and place 1st in Forensics, 2nd in Human Physiology & Anatomy, and place 3rd in Astronomy. Couple of things to remember, I need to get a good coach for diseases detective event and need someone who is very good at building structures. Hopefully I can work with the Sean Edo next year and maybe he can recruit more builders.
Personally, I think I need to sit with each pair of participants and go over the rules together in the beginning and introduce the coaches. Maybe working together in couple of events together will make the team stonger a well. It was a nice group of students as always. It''s fun to work with a set of students, I otherwise never get to meet. :-) It's stressful to follow up on all these things but am glad it's only for a span of four months or so (from Nov/Dec to Mar).
