Last meeting for HIPASS - August 14, 2010

The four of us (from left to right: Joyce, Amy,Cecelia, and Kindra) attended the HI-PASS/Professional Communities meetings.  It started last November (met once a month during the school year) and ended this month.  Teachers and adminitrators from all levels (elementary to Maui College) got together to discuss and perform action research to create curriculums that will ease transitions (or matriculations) between differernt levels (elementary --> intermediate school --> high school --> maui college).

I (amy) was able to work with other Health Pathway teachers (Malia from Lahainaluna High and Brooke from Maui High) to analyze some transition data from high school to the Nursing program at MC and also was able to look at our own high school data on the increasing enrollment in Health Services Pathway through an advisory class survey.

FYI- What is HI-PASS?
HI-PASS (Hawaii Partnership for Achieving Student Success) is a replication of Cal-PASS, an initiative that collects, analyze and shares student data in order to track performance and improve success from elementary school through university.  It brings different educational sectors to examine student tranition and success throug the segments to align curriculum and assessment.
