PLTW - Project Lead the way, a different approach to learning and teaching where students are engaged and performing.
High School Level has three programs: Biomedical Sciences, Pathway to Engineering, and Computer Science. Each program has three to four modules (year-long courses) meaning the students usually have to stay in the program for three to four years. For DOE it is likely to roll out with CTE Pathway.
In order to roll these out, you need to finish professional trainings - Readiness Training (e-training), Core Training (in person), On-going Training. For in-person training, the cost for per high teacher is $2400.
PLTW is looking at getting sponsors to help schools start these programs. All equipment/supplies provided through the program is kept by the school even if the school decides to quit the program.
College board is looking at offering AP exams for some of the courses. I will share the information with our department when I return to school. NOTE: Content is aligned to CCSS and NextGen standards.
